Kate McClanaghan, Inc. Sister Sites

The challenge

Kate McClanaghan is a Chicago-based voiceover artist, author and entrepreneur who owns three sister companies: Sound Advice, The Pin Drop Audiobook Theatre Company and Big House Audio and Casting. The three sites are related, but still distinct – how, then, to redesign the three sites with echoes of each other?

The solution

All three sites were designed using a very minimalist, modern palette, using big blocks of color and sans-serif fonts. Photographs were kept to a minimum; instead, we opted to use pull quotes and graphic headlines for flavor. MP3s were sprinkled liberally throughout the sites as samples and testimonials. Each site also includes prominent, yet not overbearing, links to its sisters on their home pages, so visitors that find one can easily jump to another that might better fit their needs.

The tools

All three sites –, and – were built using HTML, JavaScript, Macromedia Flash MX 2004, CSS, and Adobe Photoshop.
