The new James Bond.

So according to this story over at Sci Fi Wire:

Variety reported that the field of actors under consideration to replace Pierce Brosnan as James Bond has narrowed to Daniel Craig (Layer Cake), Henry Cavill (a contender for Superman), Sam Worthington and Goran Visnjic (E.R.). Screen tests are being completed this week, the trade paper reported.

I for one am pulling for Goran Visnjic. I think it'd be cool to have a James Bond with a heavy Croatian (?) accent.

Eh.

At this point there have been too many rumors floating around to take any of them seriously anymore. Last I heard, Brosnan was back as the leading contender once the various parties involved (now that Sony's in the picture) couldn't agree on a replacement.

There comes a point at which you just stop listening.

For my part, what I really want to see is the return of Ernst Stavro Blofeld. With the Sony buyout (since Sony had previously purchased the rights to SPECTRE and related characters from Kevin McClory), the rights are all back under one roof. Now, I don't know how credible the idea of a secret megalomaniacal organization would be in today's world, but there's one hell of a lot of potential for a massive "return" story.
