{"id":1639,"date":"2008-06-19T12:27:56","date_gmt":"2008-06-19T12:27:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.geoffreylong.com\/wordpress\/?p=1639"},"modified":"2008-06-19T12:27:56","modified_gmt":"2008-06-19T12:27:56","slug":"the-tranquility-of-travel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.geoffreylong.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1639","title":{"rendered":"The tranquility of travel."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I never would have thought that I&#8217;d be hearing advice on the tranquility of <i>anything<\/i> from Uncle Warren Ellis, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.warrenellis.com\/?p=6055\">there you go<\/a>.<br \/>\nMe, I enjoy traveling as well, except for the fact that I still feel like I&#8217;m paying penance for making a friend&#8217;s cousin miss her flight when I was a freshman in college because I&#8217;d never flown before, and when she told me the time of her flight we simply calculated that that was the time when she&#8217;d have to be at the airport.  It&#8217;s moments of wanton stupidity like that which keep me up at night, even ten years later.  Oy.  (Devin, if you&#8217;re reading this, please tell Portia that I&#8217;m <i>still<\/i> sorry.)<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a good thing that I like traveling so much, because I&#8217;m going to be doing a lot of it in upcoming months.  First Laura and I will be heading to Greece for the <a href=\"http:\/\/toyresearch.org\/conference_call_for_papers_2008.php\">International Toy Researchers Association<\/a> conference in early July.  After that I&#8217;ll be flying to Los Angeles for a workshop on transmedia at the <a href=\"http:\/\/sandbox.siggraph.org\/about.html\">SIGGRAPH Sandbox Conference<\/a> in August, and then down to Texas to co-host a workshop on video game adaptations at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.austingdc.net\/\">Austin Game Developers Conference<\/a> in September.  Woof.
