The glasses he wore were purely cosmetic,
\nhe wore them to appear smarter,
\nbookish, even, although he hated to read.
\nHe wore them every day, every place he went,
\nhe internalized his look as a nerdy man,
\nhe would blink and squint in airport lines
\nalthough his eyes were perfectly fine.
\nIn time he managed to attract a bookish girl,
\nhe bluffed his way through chitchat
\nto woo and seduce and win her,
\nand he brought her back to his place
\nhe managed to convince her that his library
\nwas still at his parents’ place in Wisconsin.
\nHe took her to bed, kissed her and caressed her,
\nbut the jig was up when the alarm rang in the morning
\nand he reached for his glasses and got hers –
